Barbara asked me to quilt this Card Trick quilt for her a while back. It’s a sweet and simple quilt, perfect for a beginner quilter or someone looking for a quick project.
When she brought it into the shop, I was immediately drawn to her fabrics. They all looked so fun and playful! I was telling her how much I loved her fabrics, when she stopped me. “I’m so glad you like these fabrics,” she said, “because I bought most of them from you!” Barbara and I obviously have great taste! 😉
She found another one of my current favorite fabrics for her backing as well. This light grey Wilmington Essentials Dotsy 108″ width fabric was perfect. Those delicate polka dots are perfect with all her dotted fabrics in the top.
Barbara wanted really simple quilting for this quilt. It was meant to be a fun and uncomplicated project. So we agreed an edge to edge design would be best for her quilt.
There are a lot of sharp angles in any card trick quilt. But lots of the fabrics had circles, dots, and curves. I thought we could soften some of those angles with a curvy quilting design. Barbara’s favorite design was the double bubble. It’s a sweet and simple design that has a circle within a circle on a meandering line. Barbara’s Card Trick quilt was such a fun quilt. I’m so glad she loved it!
